Just turn up at All Saints’ on a Thursday morning as and when you can to help with keeping this, the second-largest churchyard in England looking tidy. Mow the grass, rake leaves, rake the mowings, trim the verges, weed round the gravestones, trim the shrubs, flatten the molehills, pull out the suckers, plant bulbs…. You don’t have to do heavy work if you’re not up to it. Come for as long (or short) as you like or just come for coffee at 11.00. The churchyard now looks more loved than ever. Age 5-7: 6pm till 7pm
Age 7 upwards: 7:30pm till 8:30 pm.
We currently have spaces available for both age groups.
Weekly subs are £2.

The annual Blessing of the Seas by the Bishop of Colchester and Re-Claiming of the Waters starts with a procession of the Deputy and Members of the Cinque Port Liberty of Brightlingsea, the Mayor and Town Council of Brightlingsea, The Mayor of Colchester and other Essex dignitaries leaving from St James’ in Victoria Place at about 11.30 and arriving at the Hard about 20 minutes later. A spectacular pageant going back centuries!
