Music and the Church
St James Singers – practice has been suspended during the pandemic
This is an occasional choir which anyone is welcome to join if they can sing in tune. We practise on Thursdays at 7.30 in St James’. Weekly practices are suspended of course during the Coronavirus outbreak. Otherwise, when we are allowed to start again then everyone is welcome to join – especially men. Some of the choir members finish the evening in the pub afterwards. If you enjoy a good sing – just turn up and join us! If you want to know more contact either Carole Warren on 01206 825027 firstname.lastname@example.org or Chris Bloor 07958 41 77 23 email@example.com
The Church Lads and Church Girls Brigade:
It is planned to resume meetings on Fridays: Please contact John Dines for information on
Our Company first started in Brightlingsea in 1904 and closed in 1921 due to the First World War. The present Company was started in 1959 and has continued to the present day. The ages that we work with are 5 years old to 21 years old. The aim of the Brigade is to extend the Kingdom of Christ among Lads and Girls and our motto is “Fight the Good Fight”. We do badge work, drill and enjoy Fellowship, Faith and Fun. Our officers are all DBS checked and have the members’ interests at heart.
The Brigade meets weekly on a Friday at the YMCA Hall (unless otherwise advertised) as follows:
Martins and Y Team: 6.30 – 7.30 pm (5 – 10 years)
Band: 7.30 – 8.30 pm
Juniors and Seniors: 8.30 – 9.30 pm (10 – 21 years)
We are always happy to see new members on Friday nights, so, if anyone wants to come and see what we do and joins they will always be welcome.
For more information pick up a leaflet from inside the Church and see who we are and what we do. You can also contact John Dines on Johnnnyboy22@hotmail.co.uk or Facebook: @brigade.brightlingsea
Worship Group. Most Sundays an informal worship group comprising piano, keyboard and rhythm guitar accompanies the rhythmic hymns at 10.00 worship. On Parade Sundays on the first Sunday of each month we are augmented by members of the CLGB. Anyone who plays a musical instrument (whether in the CLGB or not) and who would like to be involved on any Sunday should ring Chris Bloor on 07958 41 77 23. Note that singing is sadly not allowed during the pandemic
If you would like to play the organ or use the piano or keyboard please contact Chris Bloor on 01206 30 33 31 or firstname.lastname@example.org
