Funerals

The death of someone close is a very sad time and there is always such a lot to do when you least feel able to cope.  We are here to help you.

A service in church is for anyone, whether or not they have been regular churchgoers. Please call the church office on  01206 30 23 78; or your undertaker will contact us for you. The restrictions on funerals during the pandemic have now been lifted.

A funeral service may be held in All Saints’ or St James’, or at a crematorium, or in a cemetery chapel.  We will help you plan the service. This can be very simple, or more elaborate if you wish.  An organist is available.  The funeral service usually lasts about thirty minutes and can include music, hymns, prayers, short readings and a tribute to the deceased.  Please let the us know if you, or any of your family or friends, would like to contribute to the service.

A funeral service is for everyone who knew the deceased, children as well as adults.  Often children can find it very helpful to be present.

Access is available for people with a disability.  Please let us know what you need.

Ash Lawn and Garden of Remembrance

Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted [Matthew 5:4]

We have a beautiful, peaceful garden area at All Saints' for the burial of cremated remains.  Cremated remains can also be interred into existing family graves, with permission.

For more information please contact the Church Office on 01206 302378

Please note: Burial of cremated remains in a churchyard must be done by the ministry team of the church. Scattering ashes in a churchyard is not permitted by the Church of England, but there are many other places in Brightlingsea where this can be done, and our ministry team are available for a service of scattering at other locations in Brightlingsea.
