You might feel anxious going to a meeting for the first time. Everyone who attends AA has been where you are.

They understand your fears.

There are no forms to fill in. No fees to pay. You do not have to talk. You can just come along and listen.

You won’t have to pray. And you don’t have to stand up and say, “I’m an alcoholic.”

What you will find is a warm welcome. And you will probably feel that you are with people who really understand you. Perhaps for the first time.

When you first come to a meeting, you will be told about a Starter Pack. It offers pamphlets with support and guidance that you can dip in to in your own time and at your own pace.

Read more about what happens at an AA meeting, and what to expect the first time.

Simply search your town or postcode to find your nearest AA meeting.
